This Southern Natchez Trace tour is an extension of
our shorter version and incorporates Tupelo and French Camp for feel of
the Mississippi delta and farm land. We will cycle the wonderfully scenic and quiet Natchez
Trace from Tupelo to Natchez, with overnight stays along the way in
French Camp, Jackson, & Port Gibson. Our tour will also include options to
visit the Mississippi Crafts Center, Vicksburg National Military Park,
Grand Gulf Military Monument, Windsor Ruins, Emerald Indian Mound, Mount
Locust and much more.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 -
Tupelo, MS
We will convene in Tupelo, the birthplace of
Elvis Presley. Our host this evening is the
lovely Mockingbird B&B. After settling into
your room we get together in the early
afternoon for an informal meet and greet and
to go over the trip itinerary. Tonight's
dinner is at one of my favorite restaurants
in the south.

Day 2 -
The Journey Begins
After a delicious breakfast served at our
host inn we cycle to the Natchez Trace
where we embark on tour of the Southern Natchez Trace. Today's journey will be
relatively flat as we cycle towards the quiet community of French Camp, MS.
This quaint little community is home to the French Camp academy, which was
established in 1885, and today is operated to provide an education for
children from troubled or broken homes.

Day 3 -
French Camp to Kosciusko, MS
Today we will cycle to
Kosciusko, voted one of America's 125 best
small towns and birthplace of Oprah Winfrey.
Once in Kosciusko we will have opportunities to view
the local history and points of interest. Our
host inn this evening is the beautiful Maple
Terrace. Tonight our gracious host will
prepare dinner for us in her beautiful home.

Day 4 -
Kosciusko to Jackson, MS
Today we will cycle along the
Natchez Trace to Jackson, the capital of Mississippi. The highlight of
today's route will be the approximately 20
miles of shoreline we cycle along the Ross Barnett Reservoir.
Today we leave the quiet setting of the small
towns bordering the Natchez Trace to explore
the bright lights of Jackson. Our host this
evening will be the historic Old Capital Inn.

Day 5 -
Jackson to Port Gibson, MS
After breakfast we shuttle back to the Trace
to continue our journey along some its most
beautiful stretches. Tonight's host inn is
the fabulous Rosswood Plantation, a true
example of the long gone grand southern
plantations.

Day 6 -
The Completion of the Big Red Tour in Natchez
We depart Port Gibson for our final day of
cycling along the historic Natchez Trace.
Today's cycling will take us through the lush,
moss draped trees along the Loess hills
leading to our journeys end in Natchez, MS.
Today we will have the option of stopping to
view, Mount Locust, a restored stand, and
Emerald Mound, the nations second largest
Indian mound. Tonight will be the first of two
nights at the Historic Natchez Inn.

Day 7 - A Day to Explore the Beautiful City of Natchez
Today is an optional day for
cycling with opportunities to take guided
tours of many of the Antebellum Mansions in
the city of Natchez. This city and its many
plantations is one of the best and most well
preserved examples of a southern era long
since gone. We spend a second night at the
Historic Natchez Inn.

Day 8 -Shuttle Back to Tupelo
We
say our goodbyes to our wonderful host's, the
city of Natchez and the Historic Natchez Inn. Our shuttle back to
Tupelo will give us ample time to reflect on the accomplishment of cycling
the entire Natchez Trace and plan our next adventure.
